And now the last task. You have to prepare a project in your groups. You should use your words and word combinations. Your home task was to bring different photos, pictures on the topic "Health", coloured pencils, clue and scissors. I'll give a piece of paper on which you should work. Again I ask to choose the theme of the task. I have three topics: Healthy food, Sport, The way of life.

Teacher: Your time is up. Let’s work together. What are we going to talk about?

Pupils: We are going to talk about health.
Thank you for your work. You may put your projects on the board, for everybody to look at them.  So, at the end of our lesson tell me, did you like our lesson?

– explain why you don’t agree with the opposing opinion
– make a conclusion restating your position

– Thank you for the lesson. See you.

Healthy food

All food is made up of nutrients which our bodies use. There are different kinds of nutrients: carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals. Different kinds of food contain different nutrients.
Before we cut down on fat, sugar and salt, we have to know a bit more about the kind of food these things might be in. The biggest problem comes when these things are hidden in other foods: biscuits, crisps, sausages, meat pies, soft drinks and so on. The best way is to get into the habit of checking the ingredients and nutritional value on the sides of packets although this isn’t always easy to do. Another thing to know is, for example, that we do need fat to live, it’s an essential part of our diet and physically we couldn’t exist without it. But we all know that to eat much fat is bad for our health. The matter is that there are different kinds of fat. There are fats that are good for us and fats that are bad for us. Eating less of the bad ones and more of the good ones can actually help us to live longer! Bad fats are the saturated fats, found in animal productions, like red meat, butter and cheese.
Friendly fats are the unprocessed fats found naturally in foods like nuts and seeds, olives, avocados and oily fish, including tuna. One more thing to know is that when food is cooked, its structure changes. It can change the vitamin and nutrient contents of food. More and more people feel strongly about the way, their food is produced. Nowadays so much of the basic food we eat — meat, fish, fruit and vegetables — is grown using chemicals and additives.
Although fertilizers and pesticides have greatly increased the quantity of food and helped to improve its appearance, there is a growing concern about the effects of these chemicals in the food chain. This concern has led to a growth in the demand for organically grown products. Today there is another problem. It is modified food, which is cheaper that ordinary one. There is a rumor that such food can cause cancer and other problems. Nobody knows, either it is just an imagined fear or a real problem. This problem could be solved and examined, but it will take some time. The food we eat, depends on lots of things. Taste is a big factor. Culture, religion and health also play a part in what food we eat. Advertising and social factors also have a big influence.
Income is also an important factor. That is why not surprisingly, money, rather than a lack of knowledge about how to eat well, is at the heart of the problem. Finally, there are three main messages to follow for healthy eating: First, we should eat less fat, particularly saturated fat. Secondly, we are to cut down on sugar and salt. Thirdly, we must eat more fresh fruit and vegetables.

Sport: is it always healthy?

Of course, everybody knows about positive influence of sport on people`s bodies and minds. Sport educates a strong will, discipline, ability to overcome difficulties. It helps to increase self-confidence and keep fit. It can even be a treatment: sometimes doctors prescribe going in for sport as a cure for people with certain diseases. The proverb of ancient Greeks says `If you want to be beautiful — you should run, if you want to be healthy — you should run, if you want to be clever — you should run`, and it is still the truth. So if we take this part of the sport life, everything is brilliant and suitable for you and your health.
But if we take off the pink sun glasses, we`ll see that there are some points that are not so fine.
Let`s look at the life of professional sportsmen. On one hand, they are full of life, energetic, strong people with good health and big sum of money in the bank. But on the other hand, the essential part of their life is the professional traumas. For example, I can tell you a story of one boxer, named Muhammad Ali. He was the winner of the Olympics in 1960, won 51 out of 56 combats and was told to be the real master of boxing. But the price for that was very high — he got Parkinson disease at the age of 40.
Another problem of the professional sport is so-called dope. It`s a helping hand for those, aiming the first places and gold medals, but no-one can truly says, that it will bring no harm or it will be no side effects in future. I think everybody has heard about steroids employed by body builders to gain muscles. But have you ever heard that the steroids in very small doses have been used to treat people with mental disturbances, such as schizophrenia and maniac depression for over 50 years. Can you predict what will happen with the body builders in some years? I can`t.
One more trouble of professional sportsmen is that they are forced to retire young so there is a great pressure on them. They must win everything they can so they are to keep the strong rules and have got no possibility to make a decision of their own.
If we speak about people who are not crazy about sport, they`ve got different difficulties. Let`s imagine an average person, who is not keen on sport but goes to the gym or swimming pool twice or three times a week. The very this average man is in danger of overdoing the exercises (because the load is too high). Let alone extreme kinds of sport, which can be really risky without the needed trainings.
In conclusion, I`d like to state that sport itself is neither good nor bad — it depends on the way you do it.

Healthy way of life

I believe that health is better than wealth, basically because you can get by living on a small amount of money, but you cannot live without good health, and without good health nothing else is worth having. People nowadays are more health-conscious than they used to be.
In order to be healthy we should avoid bad habits that can affect our health. In my opinion, smoking and drinking alcohol, are the worst ones. Smoking, for example, causes lung diseases, such as pneumonia, emphysema and cancer, heart attacks and high blood pressure. Besides, it makes teeth yellow and skin unhealthy. Alcohol causes heart disease and brain damage. A drinker becomes nervous and aggressive, loses friends, and finally loses his work, family and happy life.
Smoking and drinking are joined by less dangerous habits, such as skipping meals, eating unhealthy food, or even overeating. If we eat too much, we start to put on weight, and obesity leads to serious health problems.
Experts say people should remember a wise proverb ‘An apple a day keeps the doctor away’. This means that we should eat more fresh vegetables and fruit. We should have regular eating habits and try to have meals every day in the same time.
Regular exercise is an essential part of our life. A person who takes regular exercise will stay physically fit, vigorous and keep a youthful shape.
Regular sleeping habits are also important. At night while we sleep our brain also processes and stores all the information learnt during the day.
In conclusion, I would like to say that it’s easier to prevent a disease rather than try to cure if after you get sick.
